Novl Avion Jugoslavia's single-engined Novi Avion
multi-role fighter programme has been halted by lack
of funds, although initial design work is almost
complete. In the light of Jugoslavia's civil unrest, the
resurrection of the project is unlikely. The single-seat
light combat aircraft shows some similarities with
Dassault's Rafale, sharing the latter's delta-canard
configuration and intake arrangement. An engine
choice had not been made when the project stopped,
but the most likely candidates were the Snecma M88
and GE F404, with Jugoslavian manufacture an
option. A high-altitude speed of Mach 1.8 was
envisaged, or Ml.l at sea level, combined with high
manoeuvrability. The Novi Avion was intended to
enter service at the end of the centurv.
E sad ovde se spominju 2 motora M88 je jaci bez komore za dodatno sagorjevanje, ali GE F404 jaci sa istom komorom. Ono sto je meni ovde interesantno GE F404 je motor sa kraja sedamdesetih dok je M88 bio jos u razvoju osamdesetih, pocetkom devedesetih. Dakle za Rafale nije snecma bila spremna pa su i oni za testiranje rafala koristili 2X GE F404 kao sto je na F-18. Da li smo mi mozda preko njih mogli doci do ovog GE motora? Sve mi ovo potvrdjuje i plan francuza da NA bude jeftinija varijanta Rafala.
