Title: Fiat G55 Centauro

G55 Centauro je u svakom slučaju najbolji italijanski lovac za vrijeme II.svj. rata. Italijanski avioni su se odlikovali svojom aerodinamikom, nedostatak jim je bilo to, da nisu imali vlastito naoružanje i motore.
G55 vuče podrijetlo od G50 freccia-(strijela) koji je ušao u operativnu upotrebu 1938.godine Bio je prvi (italijanski) jednokrilac metalne konstrukcije. Preradom-modernizacijom G50 nastao je G55. Ugrađeni su mu motori DB605, dodatni zaštitni oklop i poboljšano je naoružanje njemačkim topovima.                                      

model G55/0 bio je naoružan 1x20mm i 4x12,7mm
model  G55/I imao je naoružanje 3x20mm i 2x12,7mm (nije ušao u operativnu upotrebu)
model G55/II imao je naoružanje 5x22mm (nije ušao u operativnu upotrebu)
model G55/S bio je naoružan jednim torpedom +mitraljezi (nije ušao u operativnu upotrebu)

Prvi G55 poletio je aprila 1942. godine. Radi spore proizvodnje su ga operativne jedinice dobile tek u augustu 1943.godine. Avion se proizvodio i poslije kapitulacije Italije 09.09.1943. Proizvodnja je preseljena na sjever Italije za "Aviazzione della Republica Sociale Italiana" - zrakoplovstvo italijanske socijalne republike (nova fšistična država poslije pada Mussolinija. Ti avioni su imali i drukčije oznake na repu i krilima od oznaka prije kapitulacije.
Sveukupno je proizvedeno samo 105kom tih aviona.
