Turkey has shown a strong interest in joining Korea’s KF-X fighter development plan, after having already won investment from Indonesia, a chief of the military’s aircraft programs said.

Maj. Gen. Choi Cha-kyu, director general of the aircraft program bureau at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), said during a forum here Tuesday that Ankara is seriously considering participating in the KF-X program to replace its 180 older F-16 aircraft by 2020.

“Turkey’s air force operates about 180 F-16 aircraft, and there will be a requirement to replace the older fighters with newer ones by 2020,” the two-star Air Force general said. “Once on board, Turkey is expected to bear the same amount of development costs as Indonesia.”

Cha said the KF-X, which was initiated in 2002 but postponed due to financial and technological problems, will start next year with the consent of budget authorities.

Industry sources say Turkey’s participation in the KF-X project could result in a barter deal. Ankara wants Seoul to consider its T-129 helicopter, under development for the Turkish Army, as a candidate for the AH-X heavy attack helicopter acquisition program.

The KF-X program calls for developing an indigenous fighter similar to the latest F-16 by 2022 with financial support from foreign nations or defense companies.

About 120 KF-Xs would be built initially and more than 130 aircraft would be produced additionally after the first-phase models reach operational capability.

Korea will foot 60 percent of the KF-X development costs worth some 5 trillion won ($4.2 billion), with the balance to come from other governments or corporate partners in a “risk sharing” attempt.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on July 15, Indonesia agreed to bear 20 percent of the bill and buy about 50 KF-X planes when mass production begins.

The production costs after the development phase are estimated to be about 6 trillion won.

Korea is seeking to receive relevant technology transfers from U.S. and European aerospace firms. Possible corporate partners include Boeing and Lockheed Martin of the United States, the European defense group EADS and Sweden’s Saab.

The original proposal for the KF-X was to develop a fifth-generation stealth fighter, something that is in between the Dassault Rafale or Eurofighter Typhoon and the Lockheed Martin F-35.

Amid controversy over the feasibility of the original plan, the DAPA commissioned a second study in April last year to the Weapons Systems Concept Development and Application Research Center of Konkuk University.

The center then recommended a plan to develop an F-16 type aircraft fitted with the AESA radar, an electronic warfare suite and data link systems fit for a network-centric environment.

The think tank also recommended the jet to have a combat radius about 1.5 times that of the F-16, an airframe life span 1.34 times longer than that of the F-16 and better avionics than that of the F-16 Block 50.

Among other required capabilities are a thrust of 50,000 pounds, provided by either one or two engines, super-velocity intercept and supercruise capabilities, and the ability to hit targets in the air, on land and at sea.

Odgođen natječaj za program južnokorejskog borbenog aviona domaće proizvodnje

Južnokorejska obrambena agencija za nabave (DAPA) odgodila je natječaj za program izgradnje domaćeg borbenog aviona. Korea Times, citirajući dužnosnika DAPA-e, piše kako je odgoda programa KF-X posljedica samo jedne prispjele ponude. Rok za podnošenje ponuda bio je 9. veljače, a vrijednost posla se procjenjuje na 8 milijardi USD. "Korea Aerospace Industries je bio jedini ponuđač nakon zatvaranja natječaja", rekao je dužnosnik DAPA-e. "Proces za drugi krug ponuda će započeti utorak i biti će atvoren 24. veljače"

Korejski zakon propisuje najmanje dvije ponude koje su bile potrebne kako bi postupak odabira krenuo naprijed. Drugi interesent Korean Air, prošlog tjedna je priopćio kako će podnijeti ponudu za izgradnju domaćeg borbenog aviona udružen sa tvrtkom Airbus Defence&Aerospace, ali na kraju to nisu učinili te nisu dali nikakvo objašnjenje za takav potez. Korea Aerospace Industries se udružio s Lockheed Martinom na ovom natječaju.

Južna Koreja odabrala KAI sa Lockheedom, za 7,9 milijardi USD vrijedan program

Južna Koreja je odabrala tvrtku Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd sa njezinim partnerom Lockheed Martin Corp, za razvoj domaćeg borbenog aviona koji će koštati sa isporukom oko 7,9 milijardi USD.

Obrambena južnokorejska agencija za nabave (DAPA) , također je potvrdila svoju odluku o nadogradnji južnokorejskog raketnog sustava Patriot, sa tvrtkom Raytheon Co. PAC-3 rakete će se kupiti od SAD-a.

KF-X program razvoja domaćeg borbenog aviona planiran je u svrhu zamijene starih borbenih aviona F-4 i F-5 do 2025. godine. KAI je pobijedila Korean Air Lines, koji se udružio s Airbusom.

Južna Koreja odabrala američki GE motor za domaći borbeni avion 5.generacije



Južna Koreja je odabrala ponudu američkog General Electric (GE) umjesto europskog konkurenta kao preferiranog dobavljača za isporuku motora koji će biti ugrađivan u domaći borbeni avion, rekli su državni dužnosnici.

“Naš plan je da se ugovor finalizira u lipnju”, rekao je glasnogovornik DAPA-e za AFP. GE Aviation je izabran umjesto europskog Eurojet konzorcija koji je uključivao Rolls-Royce i MTU Aero Engines AG.

Južna Koreja planira proizvesti flotu od 120 “domaćih” višenamjenskih borbenih aviona 5. generacije, koji će u idućih 10 godina zamijeniti flotu F-4 i F-5.

Korejski Fighter Experimental (KF-X) program ima proračun 15,2 milijarde američkih USD. Indonezija sudjeluje u programu kao mlađi partner te će pokriti oko 20 posto troškova, a oko 100 indonezijskih stručnjaka sudjeluje u procesu razvoja i proizvodnje.

According to a press release published on September 3, 2020, Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd.(KAI) announced that the final assembly of the KF-X advanced multirole fighter prototype is now launched from 1st September. Final assembly means to put forward/middle/rear fuselage and main wing/empennage together into one whole final aircraft.

SEUL je predstavio prvi autohtono razvijeni prototip borbenog aviona, koji će biti jeftiniji i manje uočljiv od američkog lovca F-35, ali stvoren za potrebe Južne Koreje jer ta zemlja zahteva veću vojnu nezavisnost.

Na ceremoniji u petak prvi put je predstavljen prototip borbenog aviona KF-Iks, zvanično nazvan „KF-21 Boramae“. Govoreći na ceremoniji predstavljanja, predsednik Mun DŽae-in rekao je da je „započela nova era nezavisne odbrane“. ​Mlazni avion, koji je razvila kompanija „Korea erospejs industriz“, u okviru projekta vrednog 7,9 milijardi američkih dolara, najskupljeg vojnog projekta u zemlji do sada, trebalo bi da prvi put poleti 2022. godine, a da bude spreman za akciju u narednoj deceniji. „Planiramo da rasporedimo 40 aviona do 2028. godine i ukupno 120 do 2032. godine“, rekao je predsednik.

​Projekat je započet 2015. godine i postao je od značajnog nacionalnog interesa, a u njegovom razvoju učestvovalo je 16 univerziteta, 11 laboratorija i 553 dobavljača. Približno 65 odsto komponenti aviona proizvodi se u zemlji, prenosi RT.

Mun je pokušao da promeni politiku vojne nabavke Južne Koreje, krećući se ka samostalnom razvoju što treba da zameni kupovinu američkih aviona i delova. „Kad god nam zatreba, možemo da ga napravimo“, rekao je na ceremoniji.

​Krajnji cilj je da Seul zameni svoje stare F-4 i F-5 borbene avione sa KF-21 i pronađe inostrane kupce za svoj avion. Projekat je prvobitno podeljen sa Indonezijom, koja je podnela 20 odsto troškova. Međutim, DŽakarta je pokušala da smanji učešće u razvoju aviona i možda se čak potpuno povuče iz projekta.

Lep i interesantnan avion I sa 7,9 (da računamo 8 milijardi uloženih u razvoj ne ni toliko skup projekat gledano u svetskim okvirima.  Očigledno da duvaju neki "čudni vetrovi",a svi idu protiv SAD jer ni Korea nije zadovoljna "zavisnošću" od SAD  (koštalo ih je to par milijardi kada su hteli da prodaju svoje avione a Amerikanci blokirali prodaju jer avion koristiti delove iz SAD ), slično kao i Tursku, pa su krenuli sami svojim putem.
