Zbog čega je Čerčil ove bojne brodove svrstao u drugorazredne, iako su bili sličnih karakteristika sa bojnim brodovima klase Qeen Elizabeth?

За разлику од бродова класе QE, ови бојни бродови нису прошли никакву модернизацију у међуратном периоду и 1939. су били онакви какве их је бог дао 1915. године.

Na početku rata je čak imao ideju da im se skinu po dve kupole i da se onda postavi dodatna oklopna zaštita preko cele palube, a onda da se tako modifikovani brodovi pošalju u Baltik.

O ovom planu njihove modernizacije Čerčil piše i u svojim Memoarima. Trebalo je skinuti dve glavne kupole, dodati široke bočne PT zaštitne komore i veoma pojačati palubni oklop. Brzina bi pala na 16 čvorova. čerčil je snmatrao da bi takvi brodovi sa samo 4 topa 381mm mogli smlaviti Šarnhorsta ili Gnajzenaua. Meni ova ideja ne izgleda realna.

Ma glupost. Dok bi se oni dovukli do Baltika verovatno bi im se desio novi 22. septembar, samo ovoga puta još crnji i gori jer bi im otišlo pet pravih BB na dno umesto tri OK.
