Predstavnik grčkih zračnih snaga (HAF) objavio je da su odlučili otpisat 28kom jednosjeda Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) A-7 corsair-II i 15 dvosjeda TA-7C iz 336. eskadrile.   
Taj tip aviona bio je u upotrebi 40 godina. Razlog otpisa je pomanjkanje broja usposobljenih pilota i ograničene borbene sposobnosti. Zadatke zračne potpore preuzet će 330. Eskadrila u kojoj je 28 višenamjenskih lovaca F-16C block 30.

PRIZEMLJILI BODO ŠE ZADNJA LETEČA LETALA A-7 corsair-II

Poveljstvo zračnih sil Grčije je napovedalo, da namerava oktobra letos upokojiti preostala vojaška letala Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) A-7 corsair-II.

Predstavniki Grških letalskih sil (HAF – Hellenic Air Force) so se 23. aprila 2014 odločili, da po 40-ih letih uporabe upokojijo 28 enosedežnih letal A-7E in 15 dvosedov TA-7C iz 336. eskadrilje.

Razlogi za upokojitev so visoki stroški vzdrževanja, pomanjkanje ustreznega števila usposobljenih pilotov in omejene bojne zmogljivosti letala. Naloge zračne podpore se bodo prenesle na 330. eskadriljo, v kateri je 28 večnamenskih lovcev F – 16C block 30.

Grške letalske sile so edini preostali operater letal LTV A-7 A-7 corsair-II, medtem ko so jih v ZDA, na Portugalskem in Tajskem (neuradno) že upokojili.  Skupaj so izdelali 1540 bojnih letal A-7 v več različicah, od tega jih je Grčija imela 60, ki so jih kupili od Ameriške mornarice.

Ameriške letalske sile so letala A-7 upokojile v letu 1991, Ameriška mornarica v letu 1993, Portugalske letalske sile pa leta 1999. Tajska letala  so uradno ostala v floti mornarice, vendar naj ne bi letala že vse od leta 2007.
