What is the difference between:

rashod (22501 rashod 10.1970)
udes (22516 udes 07.1965)
otpis (22527 otpis 1974 godine)
katastrofa (22510 katastrofa 03.05.1969)



rashod (22501 rashod 10.1970) means written off from registry
udes (22516 udes 07.1965) means crashed, without fatalities
otpis (22527 otpis 1974 godine) means written off from registry and free for scrapyard ( same as RASHOD)
katastrofa (22510 katastrofa 03.05.1969) means crashed, crew killed

Udes is better translated as 'Accident' because it does not denote that the plane is a W/O or DBR. After the 'udes' the plane can in some cases be repaired ....

The following information is based on what little evidence about the MiG-21 in service with the Zaire (now DR Congo) air force is available.

In late 1996, four MiG-21PFMs and a dual MiG-21 (as well as 3 J-21 and 1 NJ-21) were supplied to Zaire (Mobutu’s regime) from Serbia. These aircraft were left in various stages of re-assembly at Gbadolite AB, where they remained ever since. These MiGs did not receive any markings and were never flown.

A group of Russian or Ukrainian technicians was tasked to assemble the MiG-21s (arrived in kit form). Whatever the reason, this work was never completed, tail sections were not installed and they were abandoned on the spot, remaining in this condition and slowly deteriorating to this day (the Jastrebs were successfully assembled and flown, but no clear details of their use have emerged).

Any additional information to this topic (serials etc.), including eventual corrections, would be most welcome.

Dear Jeroen,

there are no confirmations on Serbian Mig-21s in Zaire.
There were only three Jastrebs sold and send in spring 1997. They were operated from Gbadolite, trough out the year by the Serbian pilots.

We have data that this aircraft ( 16173) C/n is 516909157

516909157 is not a regular MiG-21UM c/n, whereas
c/n 516999157 fits nicely into the third c/n system used by the
MiG-21UM, i.e. series 5169 99101 through 51 69 99513 (at least)

Please note also that c/n 516999157 is in the vicinity of the c/ns listed
for JRV MiG-21UMs s/n 16174 through 16178.
As 16173 through 16178 are all having the same d/d, it would sound logical
their c/ns should be close to each other as well.

Pozdrav kolege.
Sa pažnjom sam pratio diskusiju u poslednjih nekoliko dana i veoma mi je drago da su se priključili i prijatelji iz Holandije.
Međutim, po mom skoromnom sudu diskutabilan je samo 1 (JEDAN) fabrički broj za MiG-21UM u RV i PVO i to za 16160.
Zašto?
16160 - c/n 516997001 je primljen zajedno sa 16157-16160 12.04.1978. prvi sledeći je 16171 - c/n 516999011 30.05.1978.
Već sama razlika između 16160 i 16171 je dovoljna za posebnu priču, ali to sada nije tema.

Ja sam do sada uspeo da identifikujem 3 (TRI) sistema označavanja MiG-21UM

PRVI sistem
xx695153 do xx695175 gde xx ide 01, 02, 03, do 10.
Primeri:
02695156 - DDR / 256 / DE / 23+77
08695157 - PL / 5709 d.d. 1971.
01065158 - HU / 0158 d.d. 1971.
04695158 - YU / 22955 d.d. 27.08.1971. - gde se ovaj avion kod nas vodi kao US (?!)

DRUGI sistem
5169xxxyy do 5169950xx gde yyy ide od 010 do 950 sa preskocima od dvadeset (030, 050, 070, do 950), xx ide 01,06, 11, 16, do 96 sa upotrebim brojeva 1 i 6 kao poslednji.
Primeri:
516903026 - RO / 6926 d.d. 06.07.1973.
516905006 - PL / 5006
516915011 - DDR / 231 / DE / 23+82
516917006 - Finska MK-105 d.d. 06.1974.
516939041 - BG / 14
516995096 - YU / 16159 d.d. 12.04.1978. - kao poslednja moguća kombinacija ovog sistema

TREĆI sistem - verovatno od 1979. godine pa do kraja proizvodnje.
516999001 do 516999513 (mada kolege iz Holandije navode 516999101) vidimo da to i nije tako kada imamo 16160 /c/n 516999011 i 16161 / c/n 516999016.

Iz svega navedenog mislim da 16160 NIJE c/n 516997001 zbog 7001 već bi eventualno mogao da bude 516999001 pošto je 516979001 Bugarski 38.

Ako analiziramo, Prvi sistem dodeljivanja c/n omogućava 23 serije po 10 aviona ukupno 230 aviona, Drugi sistem dodeljivanja c/n 48 serija po 20 aviona ukupno 960 aviona i Treći sistem ako je išao redom od 001 do 513 je još 513 aviona. Što omogućava ukupno 1703 c/n , a proizvodnja je iznosila 1.133 aviona. Ostaje dakle razlika od 570 mogućih c/n.

Toliko od mene, nadam se da nisam preterao.

P.S. Ako je neko voljan da prevodi na Engleski, slobodno. Trenutno nemam vremena.
