Hello !
Thank you for some very interesting data. There is a little problem with it, though. According to data you posted there were 126 aircraft delivered to Yugoslavia. But in the available literature there are only 125 aircraft mentioned.
So, looks like there is one extra F-47D mentioned in your data. The question now is which data is correct ? How many F-47D's were delivered to JRV in the end - 125 or 126 ?
Hopefully some of the more knowledgable forum members can solve this dilemma.

The interesting thing is this: the MDAP PLANNING (!) called for 126 aircraft, but that is a mere planned number. The actual number of aircraft delivered might differ. With many other MDAP funded aircraft for NATO/Title I, Title II and Title III countries, this was the case. ( for instance MDAP FY1951 planning called for 194 F-84G for The Netherlands, actual delivered 166).
Now, the FY 1955 states "cumulative deliveries as of 30 jun 1954" for the JRV F-47D: 126. To me, by coincidende, this is the number as planned. When I review the "total active F-47 by 30 september 1953: 112, inactive 29, total 141" as stated in the FY1954 review, a total of 141 must have been delivered to the JRV.
Further, the 126 versus 125 might also be the case of an aircraft lost (crashed) on delivery. Often, these are still visible in USAF FY records, but not in a country's record (obvious, the aircraft never arrived)

We continue :-) 1954: total active F-47 by 30 september 1954: 121, inactive 13, total 134 total active F-47 by 31 december 1954: 132, inactive 0, total 132
1955: total active F-47 by 31 march 1955: 132, inactive 0, total 132 total active F-47 by 30 june 1955: 131, inactive 0, total 132
During 1955, flying hours started to appear on the FY inventory, named "MDAP aircraft flying hours by area and country fiscal year 1955" (1956, etc..)
1954: 30jun54-30sep54:6.293 hours 01oct54-31dec54: 2.190 hours
1955: 01jan55-31mar55: 1.954 hours 01apr-30jun55: 4.771 hours 01jul55-30sep55: 4.173 hours 01oct55-31dec55: 0 hours
source of information: official USAF information on FY 1954, 1955, until 30 june 1956
So, interesting is the number of F-47 aircraft delivered to the JRV, according to the official USAF FY overviews. The total in the review states 126, when we count the actual deliveries by month, the number is 126. Funny to see that the other offical list (active/inactive) gives other numbers..
I would go for 126 a/c delivered...

I did find some very old notes on JRV F-47, which I noted many years ago
All the below mentioned s/n are delivered as project MAP 000006, via Newark, New Jersey, USA
USAF s/n s/o/s date 44-90285 22.09.52 44-90312 22.09.52 44-90320 03.07.52 44-90350 03.07.52 44-90367 08.08.52 44-90374 23.10.52 44-90480 02.07.52
45-49194 11.08.52 45-49210 22.09.52 45-49399 15.02.53
source: USAF individual aircraft record cards Nice to see these data match with the USAF FY reviews

Thank you for info Paul. It's really interesting. But these numbers of delivered aircraft are definitely something new for most of us, I'm sure. So far in literature there were always mentioned 125 aircraft delivered from USAF and 25 aircraft that were later bought from France. 150 F-47D's in total. ...as stated in the FY1954 review, a total of 141 must have been delivered to the JRV. 141 aircraft delivered from USAF, that's something completely different ! This data brings a lot of questions. I think we definitely need some help here. ...Further, the 126 versus 125 might also be the case of an aircraft lost (crashed) on delivery. This might be the case. That idea also crossed my mind. USAF s/n s/o/s date
45-49399 15.02.53 According to available data in a book about YU AF this is the last, (125th) aircraft delivered to YU AF. The aircraft was delivered 02.1953. Looks like at the moment there are more questions than answers about JRV F-47D's...

Either made in the USA, or wrong data from Yugoslavia. To me, the JRV had 126 delivered, from the USA. Or have the reports included the ones received from France? Then the reports on active/inactive would be correct . I have no knowledge on the JRV F-47D's, merely reporting what I found in USAF archives. Paul

Hi Paul ...Or have the reports included the ones received from France? Then the reports on active/inactive would be correct . Yes, this is probably the case. At first I thought that these USAF reports were only about the aircraft delivered from USAF to JRV. That's why the number of 141 delivered F-47D's sounded strange. Most probably they put ALL JRV F-47D's in these reports, both the ones delivered from USAF and the ones bought from France. Since the "French" aircraft were received during September of 1953, it makes sense that on the Sept. 30th the total number of JRV F-47D's was 141... So, the numbers from USAF archives could be correct in the end. The total number of aircraft received from USAF is still not clear though - 125 or 126 ? Maybe some of the colleagues that have access to data from JRV register can comment on that. And hopefully solve the "puzzle"... Marko

There were 150 MDAP supplied F-47D Thunderbolts in Yugoslav AF.
-125 F-47D Thunderbolts received directly from the United States, mostly in 1952, and -25 ex French F-47D in mid-1953. Those were without wing armament.
They served in following Fighter-bomber regiments (at that time, they have structure and strength equivalent to the USAF squadron):
83. Pula, Cerklje and Zadar: 1952-1954/55 and 172. Zadar, Pula: 1952-1954, both with 21st Mixed Aviation Division at Zadar 111. 1952-1961, 96. 1954-1960 and 138. 1954-5/1958, all with 37th FB Aviation Division at Cerklje 150. Nis, 1952-1958, 81. 1954-1961 and 107. 1957-1960, with 29rth FB Aviation Division at Nis 94. and 198. Skoplje, 1952-1954 both with 39th FB Aviation Division at Skoplje.
Also, they were used by Aviation Test Centre at Batajnica, throughout thet carrier in YAF, and temporary Conversion Centre at Pula (1952)
