Rusija je izgubila tender vredan 600 miliona dolara za nabavku novog jurišnog helikoptera koji je raspisala Indija. Pobednik je AH-64D Apache, a prema tenderu, trebalo bi da bude kupljeno 22 jurišna helikoptera, uz opciju za kupovinu još 22. Po indijskim izvorima, američki helikopter je izabran iz tehničkih razloga, jer Mi-28 nije ispunio tehničke zahteve u čak 20 tačaka.
Pored toga, u ranijim izveštajima koji su dolazili iz Indije posade kojima je bio zadatak testiranje helikoptera koji su učestvovali u tenderu su konstanto navodili AH-64 kao bolji helikopter nakon svakog od pojedinih testova.

“We decided not to choose the Mi-28 for technical reasons. Our experts believe that the Mi-28N did not meet the requirements of the tender on 20 positions, while the Apache showed better performance,” the source said.
The future contract, worth at least $600 million, envisions an optional delivery of additional 22 helicopters.
Russia is still taking part in two other Indian helicopter tenders: on the delivery of 12 heavy transport helicopters and 197 light general-purpose helicopters.
