The Valentine - A popular and reliable British tank. It was designed and built by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd., in 1938 and offered to the Army who accepted it for production shortly before the outbreak of war in 1939.
It made quite a name for itself in the North African campaign and also served with New Zealand forces in the Pacific and with Soviet troops on the Russian front.

The Valentine Bridgelayer, on a Valentine Mark I hull, was developed in 1943 during the Second World War. They were largely superseded by Churchill Bridgelayer, although some Valentine Bridgelayers were used in north-west Europe from 1944 to 1945, because the supply of Churchill Bridgelayers could not meet demand. |

Kad je “Bishop” izbačen iz upotrebe, počeo se proizvoditi uspješniji samohodni top na osnovi Valentinea, protutenkovski top 17-funtaš (76,2mm). Top je bio okrenut prema stražnjem dijelu Valentineove šasije: zavarena prednja superstruktura (kasnija su vozila imala lagani čelični krov) imala je oklop 20mm, a top se mogao okretati 45° u obje strane, elevacja mu je bila 151/2°, a depresija 71/2°. Zajedno s američkim M10 samohodni 17-funtaš (76,2mm) Valentine ili Archer”, kako ga se obično nazivalo, služio je u britanskoj artiljeriji u sjevernoj Evropi i Italiji 1944/45.god.
