I did not know about Marjan book, a will find the way to buy it as soon as posible
TO&Es and ORBATs are quite different. Which are you after?
For TO&E tables for large equipment, ie number and a type or artillery piece not number of and types rifles, your best source is
"Raznoj oruznih snaga SFRJ 1945-1985." This comes in many volumes but the key ones are 3/I, 3/II and 3/III for KoV, 4 for RViPVO and 5 for RM. This is an official publication published by the JNA/SSNO in 1988.
Anything to do with RViPVO orbats and history, you need to get hold of
"JRV 1942-1992" by Bojan Dimitrijevic. This single book will tell you almost everything you need to know. However, there are plenty of other sources for more specific or the minutiae.
I have no interest in the navy, so cannot advice you where to look for that beyond the Raznoj oruznih snaga SFRJ 1945-1985 mentionned above.
There is no single book to get hold of for KoV orbats and history. A lot of authors have bitten of chunks here and their with books and scholarly articles. For the history of OMJ units, again the best available is by Bojan Dimitrijevic,
"Modernizacija i Intervencija JU OMJ 1945-2006". For a broad history of the JNA in Croatia, he has also published a couple of texts available to download on the internet in pdf format. And also a number of histories of JNA units in a given region appear in various historical journals.
Davor Marijan, like many other authors (and new-age historians), is not so interested in writing about history as it was, but is interested in telling a particular story according to a precise agenda. However, he has had access to a lot of JNA source documantation and thus, amongst his annoying political commentary, there are some gems of information. For information regarding the JEDINSTVO-1/2/3 reorganisation(s) there is some excellent detail for the 5.VO area in a text he published at the link I posted at the top of this page. All the key information you need is in that text and there is no need to waste your time and effort tracking down any of his books.
Having mentionned those JNA source documents, I should add that many are now available to download in pdf format on the internet. Some of the more interesting ones are still to appear, though.
And finally, given that I promote Bojan Dimitrijevic's works so well, I should also say that he is a member and contributor to this very forum.
