Australija je potpisala ugovor za gradnju 12 novih podmornica klase Attack u vrednosti od 50 milijardi australijskih dolara.

Defence Minister Christopher Pyne says work will continue on the first attack class submarine, to deliver it within budget in the early 2030s. Officials have signed off on an agreement for the construction of the Australian Navy's $50 billion project to deliver a fleet of new submarines.

After several years of negotiations, officials have signed an agreement for the construction of the Australian Navy's fleet of new submarines. On Monday the federal government announced the signing of the Attack class submarine Strategic Partnering Agreement with French shipbuilder Naval Group. Defence and Naval Group officials have been locked in negotiations for several years to produce the 12 submarines. In December there were reports the $50 billion project could arrive late and cost millions more than expected.

However, a joint statement from Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Defence Minister Christopher Pyne said work would continue on the first attack class submarine, to be named HMAS Attack, to deliver it within budget in the early 2030s. The formal signing of the agreement is a "defining moment for the country," the statement said. "The submarines will help protect Australia's security and prosperity for decades to come and also deepen the defence relationship between Australia and France," the statement said.

Construction on the "regionally superior" submarines has already begun and work will continue under the agreement, which represents the contractual basis for the program, it said. The submarines are a major pillar of the government's $90 billion National Shipbuilding Plan, under which 54 naval vessels will be built in Australia. The development of the submarine construction yard at Osborne in South Australia is continuing as part of other activities required to deliver the program.

Аустралија изгорела у пожарима, а са Француском гради 12 подморница

Аустралија и Француска дале су пуну подршку заједничком пројекту изградње 12 војних подморница за потребе аустралијске морнарице, преносе медији. Цео посао вредан је више од 55 милијарди америчких долара колико ће у ову сврху издвојити Аустралија, која је недавно тешко страдала у пожарима за чије гашење није имала довољно ватрогасних авиона и хеликоптера.

Подршка скупом програму изградње подморница је дата у виду заједничке изјаве на недавно одржаној Минхенској безбедносној конференцији, а која је је објављена након што је генерални дитректор аустралијске „Навал групе”, која је иначе у француском власништву, довео у питање обим учешћа аустралијских подизвођача и коопераната у овом великом послу.

– Свесни смо да је будући програм изградње подморница кључан за обе државе и наше стратешко партнерство – истиче се у изјави министара одбране ове две земље.

Подморнице ће се градити у Аустралији, радови на првој требало би да почну 2022. године а њена испорука очекује се почетком тридесетих година. Предвиђено је да се од тада на сваке две године аустралијској морнарици испоручује по једна подморница, тако да ће тај посао бити окончан средином овог века.

Ове подморнице (Attack-class), биће верзија француских подморница „баракуда”. Њихова дужина износиће 97 а ширина 8,8 метара, имаће наоружање које ће би требало да развије и угради „Локид Мартин”.

Овај вредан посао покушали су да добију немачки и јапански произвођачи подморница, али се Аустралија определила за француски пројекат.
