They were modified at the beginning of 30's i Tivat Arsenal, becouse high mounted 102 mm canons obstructed stability.

Thanks. Was it at that time that 2pdr AA guns were also replaced by Machine guns?

These guns were not on the submarines but they were arms of submarine flotilla, namely the submarine mother ship "Hvar" ... I think it's a little known fact ...

As proof here is a photo from Hvar ..... Vickers 2Pdr "Pom-pom"  Wink

It is the only connection of these guns to submarines ....

I never seen it in pictures also. And that is the reason of my question since i have 2 sources that refer it:
This is one. You can see in the link a screenshot from Warship International about Yugoslav guns were it states that Submarines came with 2 4" inch and 2 Vickers 2Pdr 40mm  http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=157514&start=45 check the last post by David Reasoner. It is the same article that refered the modification of 90mm in 83.5mm.

I think it is possible that the guns were taken from submarine and installed on Hvar, if not what would be the origins of 2Pdr in Royal Yugoslav Ships? Btw how many Hvar had 2 or 4?

I have checked my info and i have note that Yugoslav submarines trained with Austro-Hungarian torpedos since due to being expensive the new British and French ones couldn't not be spared for that proposes. For that reason one of torpedo tubes was adapted for that Austro-Hungarian era Torpedos. My question is this was that modification permanent or was easily reverted?

As far as I know, the modifications on torpedo tubes were permanent. The Royal Yugoslav Navy took 14 "Germania" 500mm torpedoes, which were collected between 1918 and 1921 at various Austro-Hungarian depots. Afterwards, an additional lot of 100 of these torpedoes was purchased in France in 1937, for a token sum, which were also meant to be used for training, and probably even for combat operations, since the Royal Yugoslav Navy posessed only 48 modern torpedoes.

dreadnought i asked because i have 2x2pdr for each submarine, i think it is probable that the Hvar guns came from them. Another option is Italy and their 2pdr from Vickers-Terni.

Thanks ZastavnikDjemo, there are two 50cm German models G6 and G7 in below link. Maybe one of those.

Hello!!

I am interested in yugoslavian submarines, specially in the french built Osvetnik and Smely.

Some years ago I begun a scale model of Smely, but I moved of house, and lost the scale model.

Now, I want to start another new scale model of Smely/Osvetnik.

I have find very good information in this pages (I do not speak your language, but the pictures are very useful).

To build the model, I use a plan of a Sirene french submarine, very close to the Osvetnik, and I change the lenght and more details, with the pictures.

Every information is welcome.

Thank you!!!
