US Army Orders 3,205 TRX Trainers to Keep Deployed Troops Fit

13-Dec-2009

The US Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Command purchased 3,205 TRX Suspension Trainer kits from Fitness Anywhere in San Francisco, CA to help deployed troops keep fit in any combat environment.

Developed by a group of US Navy SEALs, the TRX Suspension Trainer provides workouts for US troops wherever they can find a beam, doorway, or tank to anchor the resistance-training device.

MWR is sending 205 of the combat-boot-sized TRX Trainers to Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the recreation kits for deployed troops.

Another 3,000 were sent to Fort Bragg, where about 100 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division volunteered for training clinics with instructors from Fitness Anywhere. In turn, these soldiers will train unit members who are preparing to deploy so that they will be able to train overseas.

Fitness Anywhere conducted four 3-hour orientations for the soldiers over 2 days in April 2009. They instructed the soldiers how to perform each of the 22 exercises from the TRX military fitness program, a 12-week integrated program of functional strength and cardiovascular training designed to prepare for the physical demands of military service.

The TRX Trainer employs the user’s bodyweight to create a range of resistance and functional motion across hundreds of exercises. The trainer allows users to suspend their bodies in a variety of positions and to adjust resistance from 5% to 100% of their bodyweight.
