The scope of activity includes:
overhaul including verification, repair, assembly, painting and test flights;
scheduled maintenance check, phased inspection;
aircraft servicing;
verifying and repairing aircraft system components except for engine;
extending overhaul life;
developing and implementung technical bulletins;
manufacturing and delivering spare parts;
developing and implementing test equipment;
designing and manufacturing Ground Support Equipment;
training personnel;
developing technical publications.
Introducing new aircraft types to be operated by the Polish Air Force resulted in a need to develop service capabilities to support the operation of F-16 and C-130.
This support includes:
establishing overhaul (D-level) capabilities for F-16 landing gear, pneumohydraulic and electric units;
paint stripping using PBM method;
F-16 aircraft painting;
carrying out ISO maintenance on C-130;
delivery of spare parts and direct-use materials;
designing and manufacturing Ground Support Equipment;
in-situ repair and minor equipment modifications.
WZL No. 2 S.A. have drawn on our experts' previous design and executive experience in numerous upgrades of equipment operated by the Polish Air Force. As part of Poland entering NATO, it was necessary to upgrade aircraft by furnishing them with advanced systems compatible with these utilized by coalition partners. To that ebd, WZL No. 2 S.A. the company carried out the upgrade of MiG-29, Su-22, TS-11, Mi-17, Mi-8, Mi-2 aircraft and rotorcraft equpping them in GPS, TACAN, VOR/ILS systems, anti-collision lights, UHF/VHF transceivers, KT/IFF transponders and others.
In 2007 we carried out a deep upgrade of Su-22 aircraft operated by the National Air Force of Angola. It included the installation and integration of new mission computer, EGI laser platform, HUD, multifunction display, to name a few.
In the years 2011-2014, as part of a contract concluded with MOD, on 16 Polish Air Force MiG-29 aircraft advanced avionics systems are being integrated, and open architecture is developed based on the new mission computer and MIL BUS 1553 B data bus.
In November 2011 a prototype overhaul of Mi-8 helicopter, altogether with overhaul life extension and upgrade, was completed. The company has been qualified to carry out serial overhaul of this type of helicopter.

Poland's WZL-2 Military Aviation Works has delivered its first upgraded RAC MiG-29 to the nation's air force.According to a refurbishment and overhaul agreement signed in August 2011, the military depot will modernise 13 single-seat MiG-29A fighters and three MiG-29UB trainers, assigned to the 23rd air base in Minsk Mazowiecki. Worth 126 million zlotych ($40 million) and being performed in co-operation with Israel Aerospace Industries, the deal also includes the provision of logistics support and training for pilots and technicians.
The first modernised MiG-29A was flown on 15 March, with 10 sorties logged during a test campaign by 24 April. The process included three Polish air force pilots, who performed avionics checks during day and night flights and conducted strafing tests with the aircraft's cannon.
Accepted on 4 July, the same aircraft was returned to Minsk Mazowiecki on 29 July, by which time eight pilots and 57 technicians had completed their training. A second aircraft should be delivered in late August, with the remainder to arrive by August 2014. The first of the modernised trainers should be flown next January, and delivered from mid-year.
A new open architecture avionics suite includes a multifunction colour display, mission computer, INS/GPS navigation, up-front control panel, digital video recorder and databus, plus a Rockwell Collins RT-8200 UHF/VHF radio. WZL-2 also provides a new briefing and debriefing system, developed in conjunction with IAI's Lahav unit.
Total airframe life is extended to 40 years, or 4,000 flight hours.
Poland's air force wants to continue operating the MiG-29 until 2028. It currently has 31 examples, with 15 of these assigned to its 22nd air base in Malbork.
