Hello to everyone, my name is Danilo, and I live in Spain. Congratulations for this topic: it's very interesting! My grandfather was serving on board of the ship Jaki/Poderoso from november 1942 to march 1945, when the ship was returned from the Italian Navy to the Yugoslav Navy. Unfortunately, about this ship there is very little information, so I'm very very grateful to the authors of this topic. From many years I'm looking for news about the history of the ship when my grandfather was serving in the II WW. Unfortunately I don't understand the croatian language: could you summarize me the news about the ship Jaki/Poderoso in english, spanish or italian language? The ship Jaki was commissioned in the 1915 (from the russian family that lived in Russia) with the name of "Tsar Dushan", and then the ship was sold to the Yugosav Navy and it changes the name in "Jaki", right? So, this ship was originally russian, and then it became yugoslavian? The Russian soldiers used the ship in the I WW? Thank you very much in advance for your help. Danilo

Hello and welcome on board.
Jaki was built in 1915 in UK ( Smith's Dock Co.) and after the war it was bought by Russian emigrants in Yugoslavia for Yugoslav Royal Navy.

Many thanks. So, the ship Jaki was named "Tsar Dushan" when the russian emigrant bought it? Do you know when it changed its name in Jaki?

Marinero, thank you very much for that! It is very interesting! Can you tell me exactly which book shows this news? Do you know in what year happened this incident? Maybe 1941?

Marinero, thank you very much for that! It is very interesting! Can you tell me exactly which book shows this news? Do you know in what year happened this incident? Maybe 1941? Sucz, the quote You are interested in is from the "Mornarički glasnik" publication, a two-monthly magazine od the ex Yugoslav Navy, which, unfortunately, You can not find anywhere on the web, scanned and published as PDF file. You can, however, find some of the magazine copies offered on sale via ebay or web sites like www.kupindo.com, or www.limundo.com. This particular text is from the number II, 1978. Regards!
