11.08.2009 Rusija je stavljena na kratku listu mogućih zemalja nabavljača dve podmornice za indonežansku RM u poslu vrednom 700 mil.$ - izjavio je Komandant indonežanske RM Admiral Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno. "Od prvobitna četri ponudžača sa liste su otpale Francuska i Nemačka a preostale su Rusija i Južna Koreja". [attachment=1] Rusija je ponudila podmornice tipa Projekat 636 sa dizel-električnim pogonom a posao bi bio završen preko izvoznog agenta Rosoboronexport, dok je Južna Koreja ponudila podmornice tipa U-209 koju proizvodi Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering po nemačkoj licenci. Jedan od glavnih uslova ugovora, između ostalog, je i transfer tehnologije. Pobednik konkursa će biti poznat do kraja avgusta 2009 godine a podmornice treba da budu isporučene tokom 2011 godine.
