Aviation Regiment 4030 (1875 Regiment) Role: Fighter/ground attack initially Aviation Regiment 4030 was first established on 15 May 1955 when Kucova air base was officially opened. 4030 Regt was formerly known as 1875 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s. The unit comprised three squadrons, which had all disbanded by 2000. In 2001 the 4030 Regt merged with the Air Academy at Vlore to form the Akademia e Forcave Ajrore. A single squadron now performs all flying training. 1 Skuadrilja Fighter squadron. This squadron was first established in May 1955 to operate the MiG-15. Aviation Regiment 4040 (3780 Regiment) Role: Transport/SAR Aviation Regiment 4040 was founded on 27 December 1967, following the arrival of Chinese built Z-5s. 4040 Regt was formerly known as 3780 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s It has operated all the helicopters of the Albanian Air Force. The unit comprised three squadrons. By March 1997 it's strength had fallen to only 11 Z-5s. From April 2002 replacement western-built helicopters began to arrive. By May 2005 it may have been redesignated Aviation Regiment 3340. 1 Skuadrilja VIP transport squadron. This unit was the first Albanian helicopter squadron. After being transferred from 4050 Regiment it formed the nucleus of the newly established 4040 Regiment. VIP transport, air ambulance and SAR operations are carried out. In 1995, the unit operated two of the air ambulance Alouette IIIs on behalf of the Ministry of Health for a short while. Aviation Regiment 4010 (5646 Regiment) Role: Fighter Aviation Regiment 4010 was first established on 25(15?) March 1974, upon the completion of construction of this air base. Regt 4010 was formerly known as 5646 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s. The unit eventually comprised three squadrons. It was tasked with defending Albanian airspace from intrusions by aircraft from Yugoslavia. The base was closed circa 2000. 1 Skuadrilja Interceptor fighter. This squadron was previously attached to 4020 Regt at Tiranë-Rinas, until 4010 Regt was established. During 1978-1990 the squadron served as the F-7 pilot training unit. In 2000 the surviving FT-5s and the two remaining operational F-7s were moved to Rinas and the rest put into storage. Aviation Regiment 4050 (5818 Regiment) Role: Transport Aviation Regiment 4050 includes the oldest squadron in the Albanian Air Force. 4050 Regt was formerly known as 5818 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s The unit comprises one squadron. Aircraft do not wear the allocated unit serial prefix of '1'. The unit had disbanded by 2003. 1 Skuadrilja Utility transport squadron. What was know known as No.1 Transport Squadron was first established on 24 April 1951 with a dozen Yak-9 fighters for the air defence of Tiranë. After the Yaks were replaced by the MiG-15s of 4020 Regiment, the unit may have continued with Yak trainers and/or Po-2 agricultural aircraft. From 1963, the unit assumed the utility transport role with the Chinese version of the Antonov An-2, the Harbin Y-5. One of the principle uses of the Y-5 in Albania has been crop spraying. The CJ-6 operated is the personal aircraft of the Albanian Chief of Staff. Since the 1990s the unit has operated several government helicopters for VIP transport and rescue duties. In 1965 the MiGs were swapped for Chinese-built Shenyang F-6 (MiG-19S) aircraft, which are day interceptor fighters. Regt 4020 was formerly known as 7594 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s. In late 1970 the unit introduced the F-7A into Albanian Air Force service, before responsibility for F-7A operation was transferred to 4010 Regiment in March 1974. Flying operations were suspended during the Kosovo Crisis in early 1999 to allow an airlift of aid to be delivered to the region. In 2002 two F-7As and four FT-5s replaced one of the F-6 squadrons. Unit Insignia: Figure 1 References: • Air Forces Research March 1996 • Air Forces Monthly April 2004 Aviation Regiment 4004 (9011 Regiment) Role: Pilot Training Aviation Regiment 4004 is the Albanian Air Force Military Air Academy. It has performed all pilot training since it was first established on 11 May 1962. 4004 Regt was formerly known as 9011 Regt, before it was renumbered in the early 1990s. For most of its existence, the unit comprised two squadrons, one operating the CJ-6 and the second the MiG-15TI/MiG-15bis. The latter unit operated under 4030 Regt control. Student pilots undertook a 3 year course comprising 12 months on the CJ-6 basic trainer followed by 2 years on the MiG-15UTI, finishing on the single-seat MiG-15bis. Pilot's that failed the jet conversion course were moved onto helicopters at Farka or An-2s at Tiranë. In the summer, regular detachments were deployed to the reserve base at Akemi. In March 1997 aircraft and training facilities were damaged by rioters. Flying training was unable to continue. In 2001 the Air Academy merged with 4030 Regt at Kucove to form the Akademia e Forcave Ajrore. Flying training resumed in April 2004 and takes place from Kucove only. 1 Skuadrilja Primary & basic pilot training squadron. Izvinjavam se na kaasno odgovoru. Pellumb Qazimi je više nego kommpetentan, jer je i sam svojevremeno bio NGŠ OS Albanije, i služio je i tokom perioda Envera Hodže. Što se nekih planova za napad tiče, sumnjamm da postoje, jer po rasporedu jedinica koje si postavio, kao i činjenice da su ulupali čitavo bogatstvo gradeći bunkere, fortifikacije i podzemne tunele za avione, dovoljno govori da je režim u Albaniji do 1991. bila paranoičnan, i da je strategije te zemlje bila izrazito defanzivna. Što se forsiranja iredente tiče, nisu ni nju čak preterano forsirali, jer su bili ideološki zatucani do te mere da su uglavnom regrurtovali neke studente sa Univerziteta u Prištini, koji su naginjali ka Maoizmu, a njih si mogao da potrpaš u jedan minibus, toliko ih je bilo. Iako je bio nacionalista, Enver Hodža se zapravo plašio kosovskih Albanaca, jer je smatrao da bi njegov sistem autarhije i Maoizma jednostavno pukao pod njihovim uticajem.

Stariji Palubarci sjecaju se rijeci Sigurimi iz novina sezdesetih godina.
Stariji palubarci sjećaju se Skenderbega u pivskoj boci a i malobrojnih albanskih brodova u našim lukama. Albanija je lijepa zemlja sa zanimljivom poviješću. Upoznao sam Albanke koje su bile držale poštanski štand Albanske pošte u Opatiji. Izvanredno lijepe i kulturne gospođe koje govore nekoliko svjetskih jezika. Filatelija im nije bila jača strana. Trgovina jest.
