Title: 108 class MTB
Post by: alross2 on March 30, 2011, 02:47:08 am
I am researching for a book on the Higgins motor torpedo boats and would like to acquire information on the 108 class MTBs built in Jugoslavia post WWII.  Can anyone suggest sources?

Hi Al Ross.

We have a topic about our Higgins MTB. Unfortunately it`s not on english, but it can be a good start.

In Yugoslav navy Higgins MTB carried tactical numbers from 101 to 179. Numbers 101-108 was original american boats, while rest was built in our shipyards in Trogir and Korčula. Between 1963 and 1965 18 of them was miodified in Motor Gun Boats ( numbers 128, 132, 146, 154, 155, 157, 158, 159, 160, 162, 164, 165, 166, 168, 169, 170, 171 and 174). In 1955 6 of MTB was donated to Egypt ( numbers 173, 175, 176, 177, 178 and 179), in 1961 2 MTB to Ethiopia ( numbers 134 and 135) and in 1963 2 MTB to Cambodia ( numbers 110 and 138). Original Higgins MTB was struck from service between 1962 and 1965, while rest of boats were struck between 1962 and 1972.

Many thanks, Motorista.  I ran some of the responses through an online translator and am finding material that is very helpful.
