U UK je planirano da se gradi 13, ali se na kraju odustalo od 5 koji su trebali da budu namenjeni za razne zadatke u korist klase "Type 31" Fregate. Gradiće se 8 "Type 26" kao protivpodmorničke Fregate. Očekuje se da prve tri budu u operativnoj upotrebi 2027. godine. Australija planira 9 Fregata da gradi ali njihova Hunter klasa će biti izmenjena u odnosu na type 26. https://youtu.be/lMzgcQxNaW4 U naslovu videa se pominje i Kanada ali oni još nisu odlučili da li će usvojiti type 26 za svoje nove fregate. Pažnju privlači značajno smanjenje brojnosti posade, a takođe nešto smanjena maksimalna brzina, ne više od 26-27 čvorova "fully laden", što može biti problematično u lovu na nuklearne podmornice.
Ukoliko zameni sve fregate tipa 23 i one budu sukcesivno povlačene, ispada da će ukupan broj razarača i fregata u RN pasti na 14, sem ukoliko se ubrza gradnja novih fregata opšte namene tipa 31, ćiji se projekat tek razrađuje. U PPD borbi se u poslednje vreme izgleda računa i na OPV, što smatram pogrešnim, jer ti brodovi nemaju ni brzinu ni potrebno efikasno naoružanje i opremu. Ovaj program će Kanadu koštati oko 17Bn CAN$, preko 10Bn EUR za 9 brodova. Cena modernih ratnih brodova dostiže neslućene iznose i stalno se povećava! Zanimljivo je da će kanadska serija biti brojnija od one za RN. The ship design and manufacture programme, known as the Global Combat Ship, was created by the UK Ministry of Defence to partially replace the navy's thirteen Type 23 frigates, and for export. Its primary role is to conduct advanced anti-submarine warfare missions while supporting air defence and general purpose operations. The programme began in 1998, under what was then known as the Future Surface Combatant (FSC). However, by March 2010, this procurement programme had evolved to become the Global Combat Ship, following the announcement of a four-year, £127 million design contract being awarded to BAE Systems Maritime – Naval Ships. The design passed Main Gate 1 in early 2015, with the Demonstration Phase starting 1 April 2015. In August 2015 the first long lead items for Type 26 were ordered, with manufacturing then expected to begin in 2016 and the first Type 26 to be delivered in 2023.. In November 2016 it was announced that first steel would be cut for the eight Royal Navy ships in summer 2017. They will be built at BAE Systems' Govan and Scotstoun yards on the River Clyde in Glasgow. The contract award to manufacture the Type 26 was announced by BAE Systems on 2 July 2017, with steel cut for the first of class, HMS Glasgow on 20 July 2017 by the then Secretary of State for Defence, Sir Michael Fallon. In June 2018, the Australian Government announced that it had selected a modified version of the Type 26 platform as the planned replacement for its Anzac-class frigate.
