British Marines test out a jetpack in the open sea

British Royal Marines have been testing actual, real jetpacks by flying between speeding boats at sea.

Video shows a marine flying from a launch onto a larger Royal Navy vessel.

The jetpacks are developed by Gravity Industries, who claim they can fly at speeds of up to 80mph (128kmph) and climb to 12,000 feet (3,657 meters) – roughly equivalent to the highest mountains in Spain and New Zealand.

Is the jetpack era here at last? Military mulls 'flying machines' of the future

We’ve been promised jetpacks and hoverboards for years, but the idea never really ‘took off’. However, the future may be here. The French and British militaries are apparently ready to go full Jetsons... but won't it make them easy targets?
