The world's largest and heaviest cargo plane, the Antonov An-225 Mriya, landed at Leipzig/Halle Airport bearing medical supplies as part of efforts to curb the COVID-19 outbreak on Monday.
The plane, along with two Antonov An-124s, is set to bring a total of 25 million face masks, along with other supplies, ordered from China by the German government, with the final delivery flight expected to land on Wednesday.
German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer met the shipment at the airport.
The Antonov An-225 is the world's largest operational cargo plane. With a wingspan of 88 metres (288 feet), the aircraft has the capacity to transport up to 250 tons of cargo.
