Svojevremeno sam pratio vazduhoplove VU iznad Bugarske, možda nekad i aparat sa gornjih slika. 80-tih je Bugarsko RV imalo sijaset ovih aviona a stacionirani su bili na aerodromima u okolini Sofije, pa su tako često prilazili našem vazdušnom prostoru i bili meta praćenja od strane našeg PVO. Nigde na ovom topiku nisam video podatak da je ovaj avion imao trostruku geometriju krila od 16°,45 i72°, u zavisnosti od brzine i radnji koje pilot želi da sa njim izvede u vazduhu, koje je kontrolisala automatizovana hidraulika.
Visoki plafon leta i velika brzina omogućavali su Bugarima da s vremena na vreme preleću preko SFRJ MIG-om 23 opremljenim špijunskom opremom i provociraju sisteme NATO PVO u Italiji. Do nabavke MIG-a 29 1987. g. naše RV i PVO nije imalo čime da spreči ovakve provokacije. U to vreme se malo znalo o ovom aparatu zato što nikad nije mogao dostići slavu 21-ce mada je bio daleko superiorniji od nje.
Lično sam bio oduševljen njime mada su i Bugari imali probleme, što me tada nije puno čudilo s obzirom da su imali višestruko veći broj naleta od naših pilota. U jednom trenutku su njime pilotirali rezervni oficiri-piloti iz civilnog vazduhoplovstva što je za naše pilote bilo nezamislivo. Jako lep aviončić, ali previše univerzalan pa samim tim nigde posebno dobar. Rejting su mu posebno narušile Iračke i Libijske posade koje su u duelima sa nadmoćnijim i novijim NATO avionima lako gubili bitku.

|
MiG-23 bio je dobar avion, ali je imao slabije manevarske sposobnosti od 21, naročito BISeva. Nikada nije dostigao slavu svog prethodnika.
Jedan od prototipova ili aviona prve serije.

Неправедно потцјењен авион. За шта су добрим дјелом криви и Руси испоручујући својим арапским пуленима неке "тра-ла-ла" верзије да би их они, онако једва обучени, очајно тактички употребили.
