Naiđoh na ovaj snimak, čini mi se da je T-55 u glavnoj ulozi. Zanima me kako mu nije spala kupola kada su ga  T-72 i drugi T-55 vraćali na gusenice.

Kako misliš da mu spadne kupola?

Kupola nije samo "nataknuta" na tenk, već je pričvršćena na ležaj kupole tj. na šasiju tenka.

   Koliko ja znam pričvršćena je jedino rotativnim kontaktom VKU, dok kupola leži na kugličnim ležajevima smeštenim po vencu kupole. Mislim da je sve to suviše slabo za njenih 10-tak tona da bi zadržalo kada se tenk okrene za 180 stepeni.

E vidiš, taj kuglični ležaj ima na sebi neke vijke. Jedna strana ležaja se spaja za kupolu, a druga na šasiju. Kroz VKU idu napajanja i prenos električnih signala između šasije i kupole. Nemaju svi tenkovi T55 VKU. T54 i prve verzije T55 namaju VKU.

Dakle, ležaj spaja šasiju i kupolu.

Rekao bih da je situacija slična brodskoj kupoli velikih artiljerijskih brodova. Kad se brod izvrne, kupole odmah idu fondo, jer leže na vencu kugličnih ili valjkastih ležajeva, oslonjeni samo svojom masom. Tako je bilo kod Bismarcka, a i kod Szent Istvana.

Sad vidim šta je Vlado napisao.

Ipak mi nije jasno. Postoji li čvrsta mehanička veza oklopnog tela i kupole, tj. na savremenim tenkovima, kad se izvrnu na leđa, može li kupola otpasti pod svojom masom, ili ne. Ogromna je to masa.

   Hvala na objašnjenju, znači prsten ležaja je dovoljno jak da izdrži težinu kupole. Nisam nikada video tenk sa skinutom kupolom, osim delimično nagnutom prilikom zamene topa i pogođeni tenk kome je odletela kupola. Bio sam ubeđen da se samo oslanja ležajevima na venac kupole.

Kuglice kugličnog ležaja su ogromne tvrdoće i čvrstoće. Ležaj se sastoji od vanjskog i unutrašnjeg prstena, kuglica i spiralnih opruga koje se nalaze između kuglica. Na jednom dijelu ležaja postoji rupa kroz koju se umeću kuglice i opruge. Kroz tu se rupu kasnije i vrši podmazivanje ležaja. Sa vanjske strane kugli je dio koji je vezan za šasiju, a sa unutrašnjeg dijela kugli dio koji je vezan za kupolu. Oko ležaja ide i kožni remen (negdje je metalni ili od neke plastike) koji se zateže kad tenk ide u podvodnu vožnju, a zbog vodonepropusnosti.
Da bi kupola spala trebalo bi se sve ove kugle sabiti, a to je veoma teško, skoro pa nemoguće. Lakše je odvaliti sve vijke koji spajaju ležaj sa šasijom nego deformisati ove kugle ili ležaj.

Jasno. Dakle ipak se princip veoma razlikuje od montaže topovskih kula na brodovima. A da se kugle ležajeva teško mogu deformisati čak i eksplozijom, to sam i pretpostavljao.
