From Hong Kong to the Sino-Indian border throughout the South China Sea and up to the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea... Taiwan is no exception.

The Chinese giant has been proving to be a strict and insatiable superpower with its neighbors for months. Making it clear that from now on it wants to be the one pulling the strings of power, intrigue and politics in this region of the world. Something that, in the case of Taiwan, goes much further:

Over the past few months we have seen economic threats, large-scale military maneuvers, an active campaign of political pressure to exclude Taiwan from international institutions and also a recurring violation of Taiwanese airspace and waters by the "People's Liberation Army", the army of the People's Republic of China.

And all of this has brought some key questions to the table:

How can Taiwan be defended? Would it be possible to protect this island from a possible invasion? What is happening in Taiwan? In this video we tell you.

The Point: Where is situation in the South China Sea heading?

Tensions in the South China Sea are heating up with warships and reconnaissance jets from the U.S. and other nations crisscrossing the sea. How will China react to this latest test of brinkmanship?

'Doubtful' the US can 'rescue Taiwan' from China

Cognoscenti Group Founder and CEO Dr Alan Dupont says the risk of war has considerably risen from 0.5 per cent to about 25 per cent on his own estimates, especially if Taiwan was annexed by China.

"Politically, President Xi has determined this is his highest priority. He's 68 years old, so he probably has the best part of 10 years to bring about the reunification of Taiwan, by force if necessary," he said.

"The balance of military power has shifted towards China in that part of the world and it's doubtful now if the United States could rescue Taiwan as it has done in the past."

THE Group of Seven, or the G7, has decided to sail full steam into the troubled waters of the South China Sea.

In a communiqué after meeting in Toronto last Sunday, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and Britain declared their “strong opposition to any unilateral actions that escalate tensions and undermine regional stability and the international rules-based order, such as the threat or use of force, large-scale land reclamation and building of outposts, as well as their use for military purposes.”

China vs Australia's invisible French submarines

Australia’s big plan to combat the rise of China involves a new fleet of French made submarines. Unfortunately, they won’t all be ready for 30 years!

„Amerika ugrožava mir“: Kina o prolasku ratnog broda SAD
