If he does, Lula has pledged to improve ties with Venezuela and has been named as a possible interlocutor who could help bring an end to the Ukraine War. As a candidate Lula has refused to take sides in the conflict, despite the decidedly pro-Ukrainian stance adopted by the region’s dominant power, the United States.
