UNHCR yesterday again informed that its workers did not have access to Hitsats and Shimelba refugee camps in Tigray region of Ethiopia. Ethiopian government announced on November 27 that military operation in Tigray was over. But fighting between Ethiopian federal government forces and Tigray regional forces is still underway in many parts of Tigray.

Crveni krst u Etiopiji saopštio je danas da oko 80 odsto područja Tigraja od 4. novembra, nije dostupno za slanje humanitarne pomoći.

„U ovom trenutku oko 80 odsto Tigraja je nedostupno“, izjavio je direktor Crvenog krsta Abera Tola i dodao da velikom broju ljudi preti glad ukoliko se brzo ne uputi humanitarna pomoć. Tola je rekao da je glad već prisutna u Tigraju. Prema njegovim rečima, pomoć je tamo neophodna za oko 3,8 miliona ljudi.

Abij Ahmed, premijer Etiopije i dobitnik Nobelove nagrade za mir 2019, pokrenuo je 4. novembra vojnu ofanzivu protiv snaga Oslobodilačkog fronta naroda Tigraja (TPLF) koje upravljaju tim regionom. Tokom četiri nedelje sukoba, pošto je Ahmed nedavno proglasio pobedu, nekoliko desetina hiljada ljudi je pobeglo u Sudan, dok je veliki broj raseljen unutar Tigraja. UN su ranije navele da je svim tim raseljenim ljudima preko potrebna humanitarna pomoć.

Etiopske snage prešle su granicu sa Sudanom i ušle na teritoriju te zemlje, što predstavlja čin "agresije", saopštilo je sudansko ministarstvo spoljnih poslova.

"Prelazak Etiopije u sudansku zemlju nesrećna je i neprihvatljiva eskalacija, koja bi mogla imati opasne posledice na bezbednost i stabilnost u regionu", navodi se u saopštenju sudanskog ministarstva koje je preneo Rojters. Etiopski zvaničnici se još uvek nisu oglasili povodom ovih tvrdnji.

Sukobi između sudanskih i etiopskih snaga izbili su krajem prošle godine oko Al-Faške, područja koje su naselili etiopski farmeri, a nalazi se na sudanskoj strani granice koja je bila utvrđena početkom 20. veka, navodi britanska agencija. Sudan je prošlog meseca tvrdio da je etiopski avion prešao granicu, što Etiopija poriče.
