Nema pretpostavljam da ima sistem zaštitne mreže kao kod Su-27.

Znam da je MiG-29K sa tim grilom kako ga neki zovu, koji je pokretan, a pošto je ovaj MiG-29M/M2 isto to samo bez sklopivih krila i kuke za zaustavljanje, onda verovatno ima isti sistem zaštite motora od stranih objekata.

MiG-29K/KUB i M/M2 nemaju sekundarni uvodnik na gornjaci, također su izgrađena i vrata primarnog uvodnika.Dobiveni prostor u LERX-u su iskoristili za rezervoar goriva.U uvodniku, koji je većeg presjeka koristi se mreža kao zaštita od FOD, te drugačija pomična rampa koja osigurava zaštitu od stvaranja udarnog vala na čelu kompresora, te omogućava kontinuiranu dobavu zraka i na postkritičnim napadnim kutevima.
