Tečno hlađeni 12-to cilindrični motor.

Mоžda se nešto može pronaći o tom projektu.

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-6 (PBSh-2) project

(USSR)

Notes: Design of a dedicated ground attack plane (to compete with and/or complement Ilyushin’s Il-2) began at MiG in 1940. In July 1940, a surprisingly unusual forward-swept wing design was submitted. While technically a biplane, the MiG-6 was more properly a sesquiplane with the upper wing being much shorter, smaller, and lacking ailerons. The upper wing was supported by struts. Both wings were forward swept at 12 degrees and had a small dihedral (upwards cant).

Some sources say the second wing was to improve STOL performance. This is not true, internal MiG documents from June 1940 clearly state that it was to relieve loading (the phenomenon of an airplane’s full combat weight vs. wing area and speed); it was reasoned that the heavy MiG-6 would spend much of it’s time at very low altitude where any lift loss difficulty would be catastrophic. The second wing also helped counteract some of the stability issues in the forward-swept arrangement. The forward sweep was selected as it lessened the chance of stalling during a steep diving attack.

The main armament was the cannons, which could defeat the armour of most tanks, tankettes, and armoured cars common to the era. It’s robust ammunition would could even disable more modern MBTs if attacking the turret roof or engine covers of a tank. The MiG-6 had an internal bomb bay in the lower wing’s frame carry-through box inside the fuselage. Split into two compartments, it held either a cluster of PTAB-2 6lb HEAT bomblets or two AO-8MSCh 17lb iron bombs. Each wing also had a pylon mounting point for a FAB-50TSk 133lb iron bomb for dive-bombing missions, or a RS-82 unguided rocket. Alternatively a 26 gallon fuel tank could be fitted under each wing.

The plane was heavily armoured with case-hardened steel, varying from ¼” to ¾” thickness. The engine was in a cocoon of armour, and additional armour was fitted to the fuel tanks, cockpit, and oil lines. Based on the cockpit layout, the MiG designers apparently were allowing for the possibility that the Soviet AF would later request a rear gunner, however the prototype at least was to be a single-seater.

Other than the second wing, the MiG-6 was aerodynamic with an enclosed cockpit and fully-retractable landing gear. Taxi steering was via differential braking of the main wheels. The lower wing had large ailerons and segmented flaps.

Evo sa nekog sajta. Na engleskom , ali eto.

Ili iz same knjige:

"Other designations or related variants include—65;
MiG-6; TsKB-65; TSh (Tyazhelyi Shturmovik).
Production/Prototype Ouantities—There is the possibility that both prototypes ordered were completed and test flovvn, but no definitive information has yet sur- faced concerning this, or any other aspect of the Type 65."
