Arihant napravljen uz pomoć Rusije

26.07.2009.

PM's wife to launch INS Arihant, India's first nuclear submarine

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur is to crack the auspicious coconut marking the historic launch of India’s first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine at the naval dockyard, Visakhapatnam on July 26. The launch, which naval tradition demands always be performed by a lady, is also the tenth anniversary of the conclusion of the Kargil War.

After spending over a decade cloaked under an obscure project name, the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) India’s first nuclear submarine finally gets a name: Arihant (destroyer of enemies), pulled out of a list with options like Astra. But more importantly, the Arihant propels India into an exclusive league of only five other nations who have designed and built their own nuclear-powered submarines. It also marks the first step towards the acquisition of the third leg of the nuclear triad— a secure underwater platform for launching nuclear weapons.

Based on the design of a Charlie-1 submarine which India leased from the former Soviet Union between 1987-’91, the submarine is currently housed in a completely-enclosed dry-dock called the Shipbuilding Centre (SBC) in Visakhapatnam. The launch, where the long, narrow dry dock is to be flooded with water from the harbor and the submarine floated out, is only the first step.

The Arihant is to be towed out of the SBC into an enclosed pier for its harbor trials. The trials will prove its nuclear powerplant and auxiliary systems before it heads out into the Bay of Bengal for sea trials and weapon trials of the 12 K-15 ballistic missiles it is armed with. It will take the submarine etween two and three years before commissioning.

In the meantime, the navy will get its first nuclear submarine, the Chakra, an Akula-2 class nuclear powered attack submarine currently undergoing sea trials in the Pacific Ocean off Vladivostok. The Chakra is to be commissioned later this year before sailing to Visakhapatnam. The submarine (known s the Nerpa in Russian service) is being acquired on a ten-year lease from Russia under a secret agreement signed in January 2004. India paid $ 650 million for the completion and lease of the submarine which is being acquired to rapidly train crews to man the fleet of three nuclear submarines which are to be inducted by 2015. Hull sections of two more ATVs have been completed by L&T at its Hazira facility and are to be transported to the SBC for assembling soon after the Arihant vacates dock space.

Russia strengthens India’s defences with nuclear subs

India has become the sixth country in the world to build a nuclear-powered submarine capable of firing ballistic missiles. Moscow played a key role in the construction of the current sub, and has agreed to lease another.

The INS Arihant is India’s new nuclear submarine, which completes its plans for effective nuclear deterrence.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stressed that his country has no plans of aggression.

“We do not have any aggressive designs, nor do we seek to threaten anyone. Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon us to take all possible measures necessary to safeguard our country and to keep pace with the technological developments taking place worldwide.”

India plans to create a blue-water Navy to safeguard its interests in the Indian Ocean, and to defend against any attack.

While it is building its own warships and submarines, which take several years, it makes sense for India to use the expertise of other countries that already have powerful navies. This is where Russia fits in.

“There has been some participation with the design, architects, in whatever manner it was required, that was worked out between the two governments. This is one example of partnership, partnership to the extent that new technologies need to be inducted,” India's Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta said.

Russia will be giving India one of its Akula class nuclear submarines on a 10-year lease. This submarine, which has completed the first stage of sea trials in Russia, is far more advanced than the INS Arihant and will be operational earlier too.

This cooperation with Russia is a key part of an ambitious military modernization programme by India, which has hiked its military budget in the current financial year by 24% to $28.4 billion.

[ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Time će se pridružiti Velikoj Britaniji, Kini, Francuskoj, Rusiji i SAD-u, piše Reuters.

05.04.2012.

Indijska mornarica je i zvanično primila podmornicu na nuklearni pogon INS Chakra, klase Akula II.

The Indian Navy has officially commissioned the Akula II-class K-152 Nerpa nuclear-powered attack submarine, the INS Chakra.

Defence Minister AK Antony said: "INS Chakra would no doubt play a major role in reshaping maritime operations of the Indian Navy in the years to come and ensure security, sovereignty and economic prosperity of the country."

The ten-year lease follows a $650m accord between India and Russia, signed in January 2004, to lease the Nerpa vessel in a move to enhance the country's defence capabilities.

The 8,140-tonne INS Chakra vessel can be equipped with four 533mm and four 650mm torpedo tubes.

The Russian-made vessel has a maximum speed of 30 knots and can operate at a maximum depth of 600m.

The submarine, which can accomadate a crew of 73, has a dived speed of 30-35 knots and can remain underwater for over three months at a time.

The nuclear-powered submarine emits very low levels of sound while operating underwater, making it difficult to detect by enemy warships and helicopters.

The Akula II-class submarines have a strike range of 3,000km and are armed with 28 nuclear-capable cruise missiles, whereas the Indian version is expected to be integrated with the 300km Club nuclear-capable missiles.

The INS Chakra vessel is expected to bridge the operational gap until the commissioning of the indigenously built nuclear submarine INS Arihant for the Indian Navy later this year.

India will be the sixth country to operate nuclear submarines along with the US, UK, France, China and Russia.

Russia is currently modernising the 45,000t aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, formerly Adm Gorshkov, at the Shemash shipyard for the Indian Navy, which is expected to join the fleet in early 2013.

Navodno prva fotografija (u moru) indijske nuklearne balistične podmornice INS Arihant, projektirane i izgrađene u Indiji.

Vir: "Obramba" SLO

Ekskluzivna fotografija prve indijske jedrske podmornice INS Arihant

FOTOGRAFIJA TAJNEGA PROJEKTA INDIJSKE BALISTIČNE JEDRSKE PODMORNICE

V preteklosti smo že lahko videli sliko splavitve podmornice INS Arihant, enega najbolj tajnih indijskih vojaških projektov, vendar nikoli sredi morja.

Vrlo zanimljivo...
