Russian military to buy 50 fifth-generation fighters after 2016

"At the first stage, there will be dozens of planes, more than 50," said Vladimir Popovkin, deputy defense minister for arms procurement.

He was on hand as Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin observed the test flight of a prototype fighter and later talked to the pilot, Sergei Bogdan, who said it was the fighter's 16th test flight and more would follow shortly.

Popovkin said that based on the outcome of initial tests, the Defense Ministry would purchase the first six to 10 aircraft after 2012.

He said the fighter will be superior to U.S. analogs.

"The requirements we are setting on this plane are well above those for the U.S. fifth-generation aircraft," he said.

Putin said the Russian fighter will be about three times as cheap as its foreign analogs.

The prime minister said 30 billion rubles (around $1 billion) had already been spent on the project and another 30 billion would be required to complete it, after which the engine, weaponry and other components would be upgraded.

He said, factoring in modernization and upgrades, the fighter will have a service life of 30-35 years.

As Putin climbed into the cockpit of the plane, Bogdan began telling him about the aircraft's unique features, in particular the yoke that was very convenient, especially during overloads.

"I know, I have some flying experience," Putin said.

In 2000, then acting president Putin co-piloted a Sukhoi-27 Flanker fighter jet from Krasnodar to Chechnya's capital of Grozny ahead of presidential elections.

Russia's only known fifth-generation project is Sukhoi's PAK FA and the current prototype is the T-50. It is designed to compete with the U.S. F-22 Raptor, so far the world's only fifth-generation fighter, and the F-35 Lightning II.

Russia has been developing its newest fighter since the 1990s. The country's top military officials have said the stealth fighter jet with a range of up to 5,500 km should enter service with the Air Force in 2015.

The PAK FA is to be armed with next-generation air-to-air, air-to-surface, and air-to-ship missiles, and has two 30-mm cannons.

Putin je prisustvovao šesnaestom letu prototipa T-50 i tada izjavio da će novi lovac pete generacije biti tri puta jeftiniji od konkurencije, tj. od F-22.

Zanimljivo je da su ameri u pocetnim fazama imali dosta problema , pa i kreseva sa F22, dok mi deluje da kod rusa to ide malo zgonije. Bar u tom aerodinamickom i letnom smislu. Doduse rusi su dosta tajanstveni bili uvek, a nesto ovo nisam ni istrazivao, ovo mi je nekako prvi utisak.


Trebate imati na umu da je YF-22 projektovan i proizveden jos 80-tih godina,kada nije bilo niti racunara niti softvera koje imamo danas,a koji uveliko olaksavaju i skracuju razvojni put nekog proizvoda.Prvi let YF-22/23 izveden je 1990. godine,a suhoj 20 godina posle,znaci imali su vise nego dovoljno vremena da analiziraju i iskoriste najnovije tehnologije kod projektovanja aviona.
Za te svrhe Sukhoi je kupio licence dva najmocnija CAD/CAM/CAE softvera koja postoje- CATIA i UGS NX.Cena jedne licence za CATIu sa svim modulima krece se oko 25000$,sto nije malo priznacete,medjutim kada pogledate mogucnosti koje nudi taj softverski paket onda vidite da vredi svaki ulozen $.Ako jos tome dodate Abaqus koji nudi sveobuhvatnu FEM,CFD analizu,simulacije,obrade podataka,moze se reci da imate sve sto je neophodno za virtuelno projektovanje slozenih proizvoda kao sto je avion,podmornica...NX nije nista losiji od CATIe,i ima prakticno iste mogucosti  s tim sto koristi neke druge dodatne module kao sto je Nastran koji omogucava takodje FEM analizu,strukturnu,termalnu,vibracije,zatim dinamiku fluida za aerodinamiku i jos mnogo toga.

ATF je bio prilicno ambiciozan projekat, a pobednik na konkursu Lockheed i nije bas poznat po lovcima.Zadnji Lockheedov lovac pre toga je bio ne toliko uspesan F-104 Starfighter iz 50-tih godina.Na konkursu za ATF bili su jos: Boeing Airplane Company,General Dynamics, Grumman Aerospace Corporation,McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Northrop Corporation, i Rockwell International.Pored ovako jake konkurencije,imena koja su siguno imala sta za ponuditi,a neka su bila i prepoznatljiva po veoma uspesnim lovcima imam utisak da je ovo ipak bila politicka odluka i rezultat lobiranja da se Lockheed dovede na lovacku scenu.Nista novo  za ovu kompanij koja je isto tako zahvaljujuci lobiranju uvalila F-104 zapadno evropskim zemljama sto se na kraju pokazalo kao katastrofa za ta vazduhoplovstva i kostala je zivote stotine pilota,a da ne govorim koliko su samo izgubili aviona.

Od planirane narudzbine 750 lovaca ATF po ceni od 35 miliona $,kako je bilo zamisljeno sredinom 80-tih,proizvedeno je nekih 100tinjak po ceni koja trenutno prelazi 300 miliona$.

25.000$ nije ništa naspram troškova razvoja.

Ja u firmi imam licenciran Visaual Nastran (hardverski key, gomila licencnih kodova i ostalih stvari bez koji ne može da radi na bilo kom PC-ju) koji je tu već 5 godina. Ironije radi - niko sem mene nikada nije radio u njemu. A i meni je trebao svega dva puta - za FEM analizu nekih valjaka koje smo pravili. Moćan softver koji niko ne koristi - tuga.

EVo ovde se valjda vidi ceoni deo motora.

I dalje je diskusija da li je to motor ili boker radarskog odraza.

Nista novo  za ovu kompanij koja je isto tako zahvaljujuci lobiranju uvalila F-104 zapadno evropskim zemljama sto se na kraju pokazalo kao katastrofa za ta vazduhoplovstva i kostala je zivote stotine pilota,a da ne govorim koliko su samo izgubili aviona.
F104 je bio po mnogočemu izvanserisjki zrakoplov, a za njegov loš glas većinom su krivi sami korisnici koji su novu tehnologiju koristili na stari način (pojednostavljeno rečeno). Proizvedeno je skoro 2600 primjeraka koji su u nekoliko sličnih inačica letjeli u dvanaestak ratnih zrakoplovstava (plus NASA, US Nacionalna Garda). Činjenice govore da je bio operativan od prvog leta prototipa 1954. godine do zadnjeg 2004. godine kad ga je konačno umirovilo i talijansko ratno zrakoplovstvo. Uostalom, njega je ipak projektirao Clarence "Kelly" Johnson ...

U ratovima u kojima je površno i kratko sudjelovao slabo se pokazao (jednog je oborio i kineski MiG19), no štos je većinom bio u njegovoj pogrešnoj uporabi ...

F104 je dobio nadimak "leteci mrtvacki kovceg" - od strane NATO i US pilota i to se nije promenilo sve do njegovog penzionisanja.

Izuzetno tezak avion za letenje - neoprasta ni najmanju gresku pogotovu prilikom sletanja.
Ono sto ga je odrzalo je njegova brzina penjaja i nedostatak para  i to u samo u zemljama EU. US ga je jako brzo zamenio.
