Saudis looking at Silent Eagle
Saudi Arabia wants to buy “at least two squadrons” of F-15 fighters.
Gary Parsons - 15-Mar-2010
March 15: Middle East news agencies are reporting that Saudi Arabia wants to buy “at least two squadrons” of F-15 fighters at a cost of approximately $5 billion.
The reports suggest that the Saudi leadership is looking at Boeing’s new F-15SE ‘Silent Eagle’ update as “the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) requires a platform that it is comfortable with, yet much more advanced than those it now operates”.
The RSAF operates 70 F-15Ss, a variant of the F-15E Strike Eagle and about 75 older F-15C/D fighters, the latter purchased in the 1970s.
