Kako CNN i BBC javljalju, a prema izvorima Izrealskog ministarstva odbrane počela je sveobuhvatna kopnena akcija i izrealski tenkovi i vojska,posle žestoke artiljerijske pripreme su ušli u pojas Gaze.Izrealska vojska očekuje borbe za svaku ulicu i za svaku kuću.

Hamas leaders have warned Israel against launching a ground offensive

Israeli ground troops have begun to enter the Gaza Strip, Israeli military officials have confirmed.

Palestinian witnesses said a small column of vehicles had crossed the border near the town of Beit Lahiya.

Witnesses said more than 200 people had been inside the Ibrahim al-Maqadna mosque for evening prayers when it was struck.

Militants in Gaza meanwhile fired more rockets into southern Israel on Saturday, one of which hit the port of Ashdod, injuring two people.

Israel has carried out more than 800 strikes on the Gaza Strip since launching the offensive eight days ago, including 40 on Saturday.

The UN has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis, and believes 25% of more than 400 Palestinians killed by Israel so far were civilians. Israel says about 80% of those killed were Hamas militants. Four Israelis have been killed by rocket fire from Gaza.


'Long days'

A small column of Israeli military vehicles, backed by attack helicopters, were seen crossing the border into the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday evening.

An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the incursion had begun and said the objective was "to destroy the Hamas terror infrastructure in the area of operations".

"We are going to take some of the launch areas used by Hamas," Maj Avital Leibovitch told reporters.

Another Israeli military spokesman warned that the operation would take "many long days".

"This won't be a school outing," Brig Avi Benayahu told Israel's Channel Two television.

The BBC's Paul Wood in Jerusalem says this is probably just the first wave of the assault, since there are said to be some 10,000 Israeli troops and hundreds of tanks massed on the border with Gaza.

   
The office of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has also announced that the government has ordered the urgent call-up of "tens of thousands" of extra military reservists.

Just before the ground offensive began, Hamas issued a statement promising that Palestinian children would be picking over the ruins of Israeli tanks and the body parts of Israeli soldiers.

The militant group's exiled political leader, Khalid Meshaal, meanwhile warned Israel against a ground offensive, saying that a "black destiny" awaited Israeli forces if the entered Gaza.

Počela je kopnena ofanziva na Gazu. Osim 7000 rezervista koje sam naveo u prethodnom postu, pozvano je juče još 2250 ljudi, koji će biti zaduženi za stražarske dužnosti na granici sa Gazom. Izgleda da će se IDF suočiti sa nizom problema tokom ove kopnene ofanzive. Israeli ground troops enter Gaza

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli troops began moving into Gaza on Saturday night, intent on taking out Hamas rocket-launching sites, Israel Defense Forces said.

"We have just a short while ago launched the second stage of the operation against Hamas infrastructure," IDF spokeswoman Maj. Avital Leibovich told CNN.

"The goal is to try and take over some of those launching areas that were responsible for the many launches -- the thousands of launches, in fact -- toward the Israeli civilians," she said.

Reacting to the incursion, chief negotiator for the Palestinian Authority Saeb Erakat said: "What this will do is undermine the peace process." The Palestinian Authority is the government of President Mahmoud Abbas.

Abbas, who also is a member of Hamas's rival Fatah party, dissolved Gaza's Hamas-led government and declared a state of emergency in 2007. Hamas took control of the territory shortly afterward.

"We will defeat the army just like they were defeated before," Abu Thaer, spokesman for the military wing of Fatah -- the al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades -- told the television network Al Jazeera.

"We will rub their noses in the sand. To the Arabs of 1948, today it is the time to act, to carry martyrdom operations in the heart of Israel. In case they will get in really on the ground, they will be taught a lesson that they will never forget. The Israeli army is the loser from ground operations in Gaza.

"They claim that the Palestinian resistance was hit, but we say that the resistance will not be defeated, and we will not receive them with roses. We will receive them with bombs and that will not stop, God willing," Thaer said.

Before the incursion, the Israelis used artillery for the first time in the eight-day-old conflict when Israeli tanks fired shells into Gaza from the northern and eastern borders.

Troops had been massed along the border since the IDF began its bombardment of the Hamas-controlled Palestinian territory December 27.

Leaflets signed by the commander of the Israeli military were dropped over northern Gaza on Saturday morning, warning residents to "leave the area immediately" to ensure their safety.

"We are trying to be as humane as possible," Leibovich said. "... The civilians are not our target. We are looking only at militants, Hamas militants."

Exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal promised bloodshed if Israeli ground troops enter Gaza.

"As for you, the soldiers of the enemy whose leadership are getting you ready to enter Gaza in a ground attack, you need to know that doom will await you and you will be killed, injured and captured," Meshaal, speaking in Syria, said on the Al Jazeera television network Friday.

An Israeli airstrike hit a mosque in the northern Gaza village of Beit Lahiya on Saturday evening, killing 13 people and wounding 60, according to Palestinian medical sources. Video Watch the chaos after the mosque attack »

An Israeli attack earlier Saturday killed Azkariah al-Jamal, the commander of Gaza City's rocket-launching squads, Palestinian and IDF sources said.

Another airstrike killed two Hamas militants in Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza, Palestinian officials said.

Rockets set a house on fire in Ashkelon, damaged a kibbutz dining hall and slightly wounded two people in an eight-story building in Ashdod, according to Israeli ambulance services.

"We still see that Hamas is targeting Israeli civilians. Namely, we still did not reach the goal of crippling Hamas' launching capabilities," Leibovich said.

"We still have many more targets to go," she added.

The houses of two alleged Hamas terror operatives were also hit, the IDF said.

One, it said, was the home of Azadin Hadad, described as the head of the Hamas military group in eastern Gaza City.

The other, in Beit Lahiya, was used to store rocket-launching equipment and was the home of Ismail Renam, who "has a central role in the launching of Grad-type rockets against Israel," the IDF said.

Grad-type rockets have a longer range than the rudimentary Qassam rockets Hamas more commonly uses.

Israeli officials say four people have been killed and 59 wounded in Hamas rocket attacks in the past week.

Palestinian medical sources said Saturday that at least 435 people have been killed and 2,285 wounded in Gaza.

U međuvremenu, šef Hezbolaha, šeik Nasrallah je na njihovoj TV stanici Al-Manar izjavio da Hamas poseduje protivtenskovske raketne sisteme koji mogu da nanesu ozbiljne gubitke izraelskim oklopnim snagama.

Prema trenutno dostupnim informacijama, napad je počeo oko 21.30 i to u severnom delu Gaze, kod graničnog prelaza Beit Hanoun. U trenutku napada, oko 250,000 žitelja pojasa Gaze je ostalo bez struje. Prema izjavama očevidaca, kako prenosi BBC, izraelske trupe su primećene i južno od Gaze, u rejonu graničnog prelaza Zeitun.

Prema poslednjim izveštajima, u Gazi se nalazi i oko 150 instruktora iz Libana, pripadnika Hezbollaha; egipatska policija je uhapsila jednog libanskog državljanina i dvojicu Palestinaca, sa prebivalištem u Libanu. Optuženi su za šverc oružja u pojas Gaze. Prema navodima egipatske polocije, oružje su nabavljali u Sudanu, koje su prebacivali u pojas gaze pomoću tunela, koje je iskopao Hamas. Logističku podršku su im pružali nezadovoljni Beduini koji žive na sinajskom poluostrvu, pre svega pripadnici klana Gawarna, koji su uzimali deo lakog naoružanja kao proviziju, i koji su dobijali libanski hašiš, koji su kasnije prodavali na egipatskom i izraelskom crnom tržištu. Ovo zamešateljtvo finansira Iran, kao i pojedinci iz bogatih arapskih zemalja. U Izraelu je proglašena mobilizacija još nekoliko desetina hiljada rezervista, i ciljevi u južnom Libanu su već određeni, tako da postoji mogućnost otvaranja drugog fronta u južnom Libanu. Hezbollah se podelio na dve frakcije, umereniju, koju predvodi šeik Hassan Nasrallah, koji se zalaže za uzdržanost, i radikalnije frakcije, koja podržava tezu da je izraelski napad ionako neizbežan, pa misle da je bolje napasti Izrael što pre. Izraelsko RV je bacilo hiljade letaka nad Gazom, koji upozoravaju stanovništvo da ne krije pripadnike Hamasa i Islamskog džihada. Kombinovanim izraelskim snagama, koje učestvuju u ofanzivi komanduje general-potpukovnik Yoav Galant. Škole u Izraelu, koje se nalaze u dometu palestinskih raketa će biti zatvorene na neodređeno vreme. Prema palestinskim izveštajima, u Gazi je poginulo 450 ljudi, a 2500 je ranjeno.
